Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
This policy explains how WiglyHair ("we", "us") collects and uses your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
Who is responsible
The responsible party is WiglyHair, an online wig store operating in South Africa. You can reach our information officer, and send any privacy request, at info@WiglyHair.com.
Information we collect
- Contact details: name, email address and phone number.
- Delivery and billing addresses.
- Order details: what you bought, when, and what you paid.
- Messages and photos you send us by email or WhatsApp, for example for a return or damage claim, and the name and number on the WhatsApp account you use.
- Technical information such as your IP address, device, browser and the pages you view, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
Giving us your name, address, email and phone number is voluntary, but we cannot process or deliver an order without them. We do not see or store your full card details. Our payment provider, Yoco, handles payment, and we see only the order amount, the payment status and, for some payment methods, the card type and last four digits.
Why we use it, and the law behind it
- To process and deliver your order and to contact you about it (needed to perform our contract with you).
- To handle returns, refunds and support requests, as the Consumer Protection Act and ECTA require.
- To keep tax and accounting records required by South African tax and company law.
- To prevent fraud and keep the site secure (our legitimate interest).
- To understand how the site is used and to measure our advertising (our legitimate interest, with your consent where cookies require it).
- To send you marketing, if you have agreed to receive it.
Who we share it with
We share only what is needed with: Shopify (our store platform), our payment provider (Yoco), The Courier Guy and other couriers, our suppliers where needed to fulfil your order, WhatsApp (Meta) if you chat to us there, our email service, and analytics and advertising services such as Google and Meta once we switch them on. Some of these providers store or process information outside South Africa, including in Canada, the United States and the European Union. We only use providers that give reasonable protection for personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies to keep your cart working and remember your preferences. We also use analytics and advertising cookies and pixels, which tell us how people use the site and which ads work, and let us show you our ads elsewhere. You can control cookies in your browser and through the cookie banner on the site. Parts of the site will not work without essential cookies.
Marketing
We only send marketing emails, WhatsApp messages or SMS if you opt in for that channel. Every marketing message says who it is from and has a way to opt out, and you can also email us to stop. We will still send you messages about your order, such as confirmations and tracking.
How long we keep it
We keep order and tax records for 5 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, or longer if the law requires. Support messages and return photos are kept for up to 3 years. Marketing details are kept until you unsubscribe. After that we delete or de-identify them.
Children
Our shop is for adults. If you are under 18, please have a parent or guardian place the order and agree to this policy. We do not knowingly collect information from children without that consent.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information. If there is a breach that affects you, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
Your rights
You can ask us to confirm whether we hold personal information about you, to give you a copy and tell you which third parties received it, and to correct or delete it where we are not required to keep it. You can withdraw consent at any time and object to the processing of your information, including for direct marketing. To exercise any of these rights, email info@WiglyHair.com.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za or through inforegulator.org.za.
Changes
We may update this policy. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated.
